Ipomoea purpurea Blue star. One of the most beautiful garden lianas. Stems are strong, 2.5-3 m long, well lined. From June to frost the plant is covered with funnel-shaped flowers of blue color. Light-loving, thermophilic culture, the best decorative effect is achieved on fertile, light soils, needs regular irrigation. Multiply by seedling (end of March - beginning of April) and seedless (May) methods. Before sowing, seeds are soaked for a day. At temperature of 18 ⁰С sprouting appears in 7-14 days. Seedlings are planted on a permanent place in May. Plants do not tolerate transplanting, especially damage to the root system, so the seedlings should be taken out of the pots very carefully, trying not to destroy the soil clods. They are used for vertical planting.
